Join the Blackhawk Network team as a Senior NOC Engineer and become the ultimate guardian of our production systems! In this 24x7x365 operation, you'll be the master of identifying and resolving high-severity incidents, ensuring our technology stays at its peak:

  • Serve as a senior technical member of the 24x7 Operations Command Centre (OCC), supporting Blackhawk Network’s global production systems and critical payment platforms.

  • Act as an escalation point for incident detection, triage, response, and post-incident analysis.

  • Work closely with application teams, network and infrastructure engineers, and observability specialists to drive rapid resolution of incidents.

  • Leverage observability tools (e.g., Splunk, New Relic) to proactively monitor and analyze the health and performance of systems.

  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing MTTD/MTTR and strengthening automation in the incident lifecycle.

Responsibilities:

  • Overseeing applications, batch processes, networks, and infrastructure (on-prem and cloud) components to ensure top-notch availability and SLA achievement.
  • Lead high-severity incident detection, escalation, mitigation, and documentation.

  • Perform root cause analysis and contribute to incident postmortems and problem management activities.

  • Use monitoring, logging, and AIOps platforms to identify anomalies, performance degradation, and service interruptions.

  • Being the communication maestro, keeping both internal and external stakeholders informed about incidents and outages using our incident report and external status page tools.
  • Unearthing recurring issues, collaborating with platform owners, and devising long-term solutions.
  • Showcasing your outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal, and adapting to a follow-the-sun model.
  • Harnessing deductive reasoning to uncover relationships between seemingly unrelated events, always striving for improvement without compromising quality.
  • The shift pattern assigned (Sunday to Thursday or Tuesday to Saturday)

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in a Network Operations Center (NOC), Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), or Infrastructure/Operations support role.

  • Strong technical understanding of networks, Linux/Unix systems, and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).

  • Hands-on experience with observability and monitoring tools such as Splunk, New Relic, Prometheus, Grafana, or equivalent.

  • Familiarity with incident management frameworks (ITIL, SRE principles) and incident coordination practices.

  • Ability to troubleshoot complex systems under pressure in a fast-paced, high-availability environment.

  • Clear and concise communication skills, both written and verbal, with experience documenting incidents and creating knowledge base content.

  • Experience working with payment systems, financial services, or PCI-compliant environments is a plus.

  • Automation/scripting experience (e.g., Python, Bash, or Terraform) is an advantage.

  • Ability to work independently while also being a strong team collaborator.
